It Wouldn't Be Halloween Without Gloria and Jack
A photo treat with a sense of humor. No tricks!
Just for fun around 2004, with some clothes, shoes and a purse from the thrift store, fabric, and sewing-department pillow stuffing, I created Gloria Wildwing. She turned out to be a modern woman with a raised consciousness and a good sense of her own worth. Of course she was kind, even though her face was a Halloween mask and she didn’t look very approachable.
A year or so later, Jack appeared and they became a couple. Soon after that, they enjoyed a vacation at a B&B in Brevard, and Gloria’s photo album came out in a (very) limited edition. I was working at Highland Books on Broad Street at the time, and Gloria and Jack were invited to the store for a book signing. You might remember seeing them there.
Here are some photos from Gloria’s album with her own comments.
I hope you had fun with Gloria and Jack!
What a joy to start the day with OLD friends! I'll always remember my happy "shock" when I saw them sitting outside Highland Books years ago, thought they were real! I wish you could have a museum of all your wonderful creations, Deda. Thanks for sharing and making me smile.
What a task creating these wonders! Kudos for you creativity and humor.
