Jasmine Beach-Ferrara Will Speak in Brevard this Saturday
Our Democratic Candidate for U. S. House NC District 11 will be at The Railroad Avenue Depot at 1:00 p.m.
This Saturday, Jasmine Beach-Ferrara will make a campaign whistle stop speech at The Railroad Avenue Depot in Brevard at 1:00 PM, July 16. Come help us welcome our Democratic candidate for U. S. House North Carolina District 11. Bring a friend!
After Beach-Ferrara won the Democratic Primary in May, she announced a grass-roots campaign where she will travel the 15 counties in District 11, knocking on doors, introducing herself and asking voters what issues matter to them.
On Saturday after her speech in Brevard, you will have a chance to join Beach-Ferrara and her team for the afternoon. If you sign up you will receive a short training (with snacks), then make calls or knock doors on the candidate’s behalf. You can sign up on her website below; click “Volunteer”.
About our candidate, The Mountaineer reports,
As an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ and a twice-elected Buncombe County commissioner, Beach-Ferrara brings both a government and a people-skills background.
She is also the founding Executive Director of the Campaign for Southern Equality (CSE).
As our U. S. Representative, she would put her skills to work to benefit communities like ours. For example, Beach-Ferrara says,
Addressing the affordable housing issue will require a coordinated approach at the local, state and federal levels.
That’s the reason we need someone in Congress who understands how that works, from low income tax credits to large scale construction of everything from homes that are affordable to first-time buyers and renters to workforce housing to addressing homeless issues. Underneath all this is a belief that everyone deserves access to safe housing.
When Beach-Ferrara faces her Republican challenger, Chuck Edwards, issues like this as well as the protection of our voting and Constitutional rights as American citizens, may become debate topics.
She will be ready. And we voters have a role, too.
Imagine it’s 2023 and you’re in the gallery at the U. S. House of Representatives. (You’d have to be a reporter with press credentials!) Imagine the House is in session and you look for our North Carolina District 11 seat. Who is sitting there?
This fall your vote will help answer that question. The person in that seat will do everything they can to define the next two years for our part of the state and for the United States. It matters who it is.
See you Saturday at The Depot!
