When I opened my Etsy shop in 2015 it was called Character Cats after my daughter’s three cats. In the shop you could find Opera Cats, Theater Cats and Literary Cats, on note cards and place cards and in Little Books.
Then I created a paper doll kit to fit in a 5” by 7” card. It was about a cat named Carrie who went to Miss Kiki’s Dress Shop to try on clothes. This week I decided to print this paper play greeting card and add it to my Etsy shop.
Below, you see Carrie trying on a New Arrival. Miss Kiki tells her if she thinks it’s “her” or not, and asks her if she feels happy wearing it.
The dolls stand up by themselves right out of the envelope. The clothes fit on the rack and on Carrie with small Velcro dots. I designed the kit so the child who receives it can stand up the walls and the sales counter with a glue stick and a few instructions.
I’ve enjoyed these paper doll design problems. It’s a different focus from the real-life GOTV (get out the vote) challenge that I work on nearly every day with Sam and the rest of the team.
This is Carrie before I put her together, front glued to back, with a paper stand:
Now I’m working on another paper play kit, “Annie Tabby Goes to the Movies”. And … on GOTV!
PUrrrrr!
