The Woman Who Stands Between Your Free, Fair Vote and a MAGA Election Takeover
NC Secretary of State Elaine Marshall - help re-elect her!
July 1, 2024.
After today’s ruling for Presidential Immunity and against American democracy by MAGA Justices on the U.S. Supreme Court, your vote on or before November 5 will be the most important thing you can do this year and perhaps this century.
But after you pick up your “I Voted” sticker and walk out the door, what happens to your vote? Who counts it at the state level?
On December 16, our North Carolina State Electors will attend a public meeting to vote for the U.S. President and Vice President. For the most part, these Electors are chosen by their political parties.
The official who will host this important meeting is the NC Secretary of State. And this week on Friday, July 5, voters can meet her in Transylvania County. She and other state candidates will be at UpCountry Brewing in Brevard from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Her name is Elaine Marshall.
In Raleigh, Secretary Marshall’s State Department has 23 Divisions besides the Electoral College, including Business Registration, Advance Health Care Directives, and Athlete Agents, to name a few. You can find out about all the Divisions at her official website (see URL below).
This amazing website introduces her as the first woman ever elected to a statewide, executive branch office in North Carolina. Her campaign manager tells me that,
since her election in 1996, she has transformed the office by embracing technology and focusing on customer service, making the office a model for Secretaries of State. Elaine has received many national and international awards for her innovation and work.
Her office promotes government transparency and holds thousands of business filings including registering lobbyists, licensing charities, commissioning notaries public and registering financial sales professionals. The databases are accessible 24/7 at no charge.
Between 650 and 700 newly-formed businesses are registered each day her office is open.
On the NC Secretary of State website you can see generally useful information about things like fraud alerts, which I found under Press Releases.
She also heads a rural program.
Elaine grew up in a rural community. She’s committed to closing the rural-urban divide, and created Rural RISE, or (federal, state and local) Resources for Innovators, Startups, and Entrepreneurs). She gives rural businesses and entrepreneurs the tools they need to thrive.
She’s also committed to serving the working people of her state, and they have endorsed her campaign.

Elaine is running for her 8th term – and a lot has changed including one million newly registered voters since she was last on the ballot.
Her Republican opponent is an extremist and the toughest challenge she’s had since Richard Petty. He’s talking about wanting to take over elections – which the Republican-controlled super majority would hand him on a silver platter.
After today’s ruling for Presidential Immunity and against American democracy by MAGA Justices on the U.S. Supreme Court, your vote on or before November 5 - for every Democrat on the ballot - will be the most important thing you can do this year, and perhaps this century.
Thank you, dear Deda, for this important post. I am with JD Ridgley. We must do EVERY SINGLE THING we can do to move people toward our justice-seeking. I already have my information/packet from Votefwd.org.
Yes, we all must find what we can do and do it before it is too late.
The most American, patriotic thing we can do is to encourage people to exercise their vote. Go to Votefwd.org and read about their program of letter writing to encourage people to vote.
Right now they have addresses you can write to in seven states - INCLUDING NORTH CAROLINA. Your choice. Sign up on the website and follow their instructions for writing letters and having them ready to send by October of this year. Like the 2022 campaign , we will hang onto all of these letters and mail all of them at once. It’s a great way to help with the 2024 election!
