Hi, Deda,

So much to do and so little time.

Here in Tucson we are working with the homeless population to get them registered and to vote. The houseless are able to register with an ID that they receive by using a Drop-In Center for their mail. Each vote is valuable and all our votes are equal. Joy!

It's fascinating to hear about the process in Tucson for registering the houseless to vote. I'm curious now to see if we do something like that in our county. Thank you, Judy! Yes, every vote is valuable.

I had a nice crop from my few pieces of potato but they had scab(?). They were grown in a large-ish pot that wasn't all that deep so I was surprised I got as many as I did. I had Bill take a video of my havesting them. https://www.flickr.com/photos/isabel95/52168646541/in/dateposted-public/

Thank you, Isabel and Bill! I never realized you could grow so many potatoes in a pot. Apparently scab is naturally in the soil, and it can be many different kinds of soil, dry or moist, etc. And every single garden year is so different regarding sunlight, temperature and water. Also, trees grow bigger branches that begin to shade the garden!

I love your blog and appreciate all the work you plan to do for the election season. I, too, have signed up for postcarding, poll watching, and planning the annual Democratic picnic! Still thinking about working the Apple Festival. And I Hate politics! But now is the time for all good (wo)men to come to the side of their country! Kudos!

Linda, I treasure your viewpoint - "I Hate politics!" while you go about working hard for what we call politics - what great spirit! And I especially love your "(wo)men" comment. YES, so true - let that be our next crusade, once we get through this one. Thank you.

Beautiful potato crop! This was my first year growing potatoes. I did so when I noticed my red potatoes had sprouted. I cut off a few eyes and put them in a large pot out front where I have the most sun (not even 6 hours, I think). Harvesting those was the highlight of my summer! Looking forward to a larger pot next year. My garden, as I'm sure yours, has been a great and happy distraction this summer, featuring the first monarch caterpillars I've had. Watching them nearly every waking hour has had me entranced. Hope you make some really delicious things with those potatoes.

The potatoes this year were sparser than in previous years, but very healthy. Sam got the seed potatoes at Harris (Ace) Hardware in Brevard this spring because we haven't had luck with places like The Maine Potato Lady -- things like wilt (I'm not sure what). And it worked fine. But everything's been a little short and rained out this summer.

You are amazing in your ability to see two vastly different worlds. I too love the seasonal changes and appreciate your observations so close to home. The political world has always been so foreign to me, and yet, now, it is so very important to call out the truth and I thank you for your part in finding the best in us.

Mary, I appreciate your words and insights so much. When you mention "two vastly different worlds", I realize the balance is beginning to shift among many of us to the political. Have to keep an eye on that! Thank you.
