I enjoyed this essay very much and I’ve come to the same conclusion. I am unplugging for the rest of the month and most of December and will just do a little volunteering and get back to reading some good books and catching up on movies. I am not going to worry about when I get up either.

Patty, we could have a Society Of Unplugged Literates (SOUL). You've suggested the first bylaw: we do not worry when we get up. Of course, we are rare souls in these times!

Having ALL Republicans on both the County Commissioner and School Boards can never be a good thing for an area. Diversity and different areas of expertise of ideas are key to keeping a town and county vibrant.

Our Town, our County and State will now face an up hill struggle to be competitive and progressive. But the voters have spoken via our democracy. It's most unfortunate that progress lost.

You bring up a very good point about democracy and a vibrant community, that diversity must be given a chance. I'm glad for your thoughts on this, Linda.

Thank you Deda.

I did not respond last week. Partly as I was hoping things were better here, but the hope is still there. Your photos are lovely and show us how to escape for a few moments each day.

Yes, Mary, escape is a beautiful thing, since healing needs a peaceful place. And you show me that it's wonderful to have company there.

We'll timed, as always.

Sent regrets to Sam regarding last night's meeting. He and you understand the need to heal in our own ways.

We now have some time for quiet, for other pursuits, for fellowship when we're ready, for some perspective, and even eventually humor.

All we can do is keep leading the old horses of Transylvania County to blue water. At some point, they'll decide to drink.

Jeb, your remarks are very kind, affirming the balance between personal spirit and fellowship. And recognizing the limit of what can be done. Thank you for your comment.

I always think of your family as being a solid part of the Democratic Party, so no worries. We'll look for you next month. Today I saw your dad at a wonderful mini-event at Dem HQ. I always enjoy talking with him!

Thank you! So many worked very hard just like two years ago, only to be terribly disappointed yet again. It’s hard not to give up. You post is encouraging. Thanks, Deda.

Natalie, it's good to hear from you. Yes, we share disappointment. Lately I've been trying to bring the bigger picture into focus. I'm working on it!
