Most definitely, a sign of hope! I hope we can make good use of Anderson Clayton and her team here in T'vania and throughout western NC. Organizing young people, people of color, LGBTQ folks, feminist and womanist women, students of all ages, religious "nones" and liberal spiritual sorts, people with disabilities of various kinds (including aging issues!) etc. Count me in! Thanks, Deda!

Carter, I'd love for all these people to be sheltered -- and united -- under the umbrella called the Democratic Party, for the next few years, anyway. Thank you!

Thank you so much Deda. This is the most thorough description of Anderson’s background and drive I’ve yet to read. She is absolutely amazing and has accomplished so much in her young career. When I started fundraising for my local county Democrats several years ago my message centered around “If you do what you’ve done you’ll get what you’ve got.” Although health reasons eventually took me away from fundraising and chairing my Precinct, I am thrilled to see NC Dems voting in this dynamo as Chair of the state party. Now THAT is doing something different! Our local precincts and county officers can learn so much by the example she set in her own home county. Most of our counties only have retirees available to work the county parties and the districts. This makes it hard to “do something different.” But when you look at our slate of State officers you know the younger people are out there and willing IF (and only IF) we give them a chance!!

Given that we're the retired volunteer base, I welcome your view that "the younger people are out there and willing"! And I totally agree that it's up to us to figure out how to give them that chance. With their limited perspective, I'd like to convince them that this country has been better and it's a serious situation. Thank you, Natalie.
