My initial reaction was "Thank goodness! The voice of reason prevailed!" Then I read the comment that only 4 students chose to read Isabel Allende (one of the greatest authors our time), which makes me wonder what the other choice was. I was also dismayed that he said the book will probably die out like the dinosaurs. That is so very sad!
Peggy, I too was curious about the alternate book for the class, and found in an article from that time that it was Moby Dick by Herman Melville. Interesting, indeed!
