Good Morning, Deda, I have forwarded this to several friends here in Tucson who frequently are published in Letters to the Editor in the Arizona Daily Star. it is one part of our paper that I read every day. Thanks again, for your delightful postcards.
Judy, this is so interesting! I'm thinking of writing a follow-up post about Letters policy of The Arizona Daily Star, since it seems extremely well thought out.
My letter was published on March 19. Possibly one of the letters that precipitated the new policy?
How can a newspaper possibly justify establish a policy that forbids them from publishing the vital information necessary to inform voters? This policy is another brick in the wall of voter suppression.
I will be writing another letter. It will avoid the voter suppression policy by not mentioning candidates or elections. I will simply remind them that a primary purpose of a newspaper is to provide information to their readership.
Yes, yours was probably one of the last political letters "under the wire". Kathy, I'm thrilled about your next letter. The whole community will hear from us, that we care.
Deda, This comes as a surprise to me and I’m glad you pointed it out. I also hope you have forwarded the same thoughts to the newspaper. Democracy can be crushed in a myriad of ways and this is yet another unfortunate circumstance of that happening.
Meredith, I haven't sent my post to the T-Times editor, but I expect it to be reprinted on our Democratic Party website opinion page, The SoapBox. There really are "myriad ways" we need to be vocal.
Perfect! Thank you, Deda!

This is happening to us here in Polk county as well.
