My admiration for quilters is huge! My grandmother made quilts from silk ties--they are beautiful, but of course, delicate.

I wonder, did your grandmother use traditional American quilt block patterns? Do you have any of her quilts?

Quilts to me mean warmth and love. Like sitting on the front porch swing with a warm quilt wrapped around you for coziness on a cool mountain night.

When I visited my grandmother on weekends, we would have to get out of bed to turn over because she covered us with so many quilts. Haha

Thanks for the warm reminder of these beautiful quilts. My sister and I just pulled out some family quilts that need minding and had a wonderful time with them.

Enjoyed THAT! I've been thinking of Barn quilts. Saw a few in town on houses. Love that idea! May give it a try. Don't have much scraps of fabric these days. Not sewing much.

I have an old friend that does beautiful quilts. She uses mostly Batik fabric.

Cindy, batik would be exciting to use. I haven't seen any "barn quilts", will have to look.
